- <p> DEATH REVEALED. ELMAR KLOS, 83; Czech filmmaker; in Prague.
- Klos, who died in July, is best known for The Shop on Main Street,
- a 1965 film created with Jan Kadar. The film was one of the
- few in the Soviet bloc that dealt with the Nazis' persecution
- of Jews and was the first Czechoslovak film ever to win an Oscar.
- Klos' collaboration with writer and director Kadar ended when
- the latter emigrated to the West after the 1968 Soviet invasion.
